ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sailing ship

Sailing ships are boats that are powered by wind. Instead of using a motor like most boats, these boats use big white cloth sails to catch the wind and move through the water. The sails have different sizes and shapes that help to catch different directions of wind. The sails collect wind energy and turn it into power for the boat. There are different types of sailing ships, but all use the same basic idea: wind power.
