A salutatorian is a person who did very well in school and has a really high grade point average. Kinda like getting lots of gold stars for being super smart!
When you finish school, your grades get added up to give you a number called a "GPA" that stands for "Grade Point Average." The salutatorian is the person who gets the second-highest GPA, right after the person who gets the highest GPA, called the "valedictorian."
Being the salutatorian means you did an amazing job in school and everyone is very proud of you!
