Sayings of Jesus on the cross

Okay, so you know how when someone is put on a cross, it's a really bad thing and means they are going to be hurt a lot? Well, Jesus was put on a cross too, but he didn't do anything wrong, he was just trying to teach people about how to be good and kind to others.

While he was on the cross, he said some things that are important to people who believe in him. One thing he said was "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." This means that Jesus wanted his dad (who he called Father) to forgive the people who were hurting him, because they didn't understand how wrong it was.

Another thing Jesus said was "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" This is kind of a sad thing to say, because it means that Jesus was feeling really alone and like God had left him. But some people believe that he was actually saying a Bible verse and not really feeling that way.

Lastly, Jesus said "It is finished." This is kind of like when you finish your homework or finish cleaning your room - it means that what you were working on is all done. Some people believe that Jesus said this because he had finished the work he needed to do on earth and was going back to heaven to be with his Father.

Overall, the things Jesus said on the cross are important to people who believe in him because they show us how much he loved us and wanted us to be forgiven and happy.
