ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Scene (drama)

Okay kiddo, let me explain what a scene is in a drama. You know how when you play with your friends, you guys pretend to be different characters and act out different situations? Well, in a drama, grown-ups do the same thing but on a bigger stage with costumes and lights and everything!

A scene is like a small part of a play, where the actors are on stage together and they are talking, moving around, and interacting with each other. Think of it like a little story within the bigger story of the play.

For example, imagine you and your friends are pretending to be on a pirate ship. One scene might be when you guys are trying to find a treasure map and you come across some sharks in the water. In that scene, you guys would act out what happens and say your lines to each other.

In a drama, the actors spend a lot of time practicing their scenes so that they know exactly what to do and say on stage. And the audience gets to watch and see what happens next in the story.

Does that make sense, little one?
