ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Plot (narrative)

Okay kiddo, have you ever read a storybook or watched a movie? Do you remember how there was a beginning, a middle, and an end to the story? That is what we call the plot of the story.

The plot is the events that happen in the story. It's like a long timeline of exciting or scary moments that make you want to keep reading or watching. It starts with the beginning where we meet the characters and learn about the setting and what the story is about.

Then, things get interesting in the middle part of the plot where the main character faces some kind of challenge or problem. This part of the story can be scary, sad, or exciting. It's like a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Finally, the end of the story is where everything gets resolved. The main character usually comes up with a solution or solves the problem they were facing. It's like the best part of the rollercoaster ride when it's all over and you can relax.

So, that's the plot of a story. It's like a big adventure that the characters go on, with lots of twists and turns along the way.
