Seismic analysis is like shaking a lego tower to see if it will fall down. Earthquakes shake the ground, and we want to know what will happen to buildings and other structures when that happens.
Engineers use big computers to make models of buildings, roads, and bridges, and then they shake the models--just like shaking the lego tower. The computer can tell if the structure will stay standing, or if it will fall down.
Sometimes engineers also go outside and shake real bridges and buildings to see how they behave during an earthquake. They use special machines that simulate the shaking of an earthquake.
Seismic analysis is important because it helps us make buildings, roads and bridges that are safe and won't fall down during earthquakes.
