Self-replication

Self-replication is when something is able to make a copy of itself. It means that the thing can make a new version of itself, without any help from anyone else. For example, a sunflower can make a copy of itself when its seeds spread and end up growing a new sunflower. Bacteria is also an example of something that can self-replicate. It can split, or divide, into two parts that each become a new bacteria.
