Set (mythology)

In ancient times, people used stories called myths to explain things they didn't understand. Sets are a group of these myths from Ancient Egypt. In these stories, Set was a powerful deity who had the head of an animal that was a mix of a donkey and a dog. Set was often seen as a god of chaos and violence, but he was also worshiped as a god of the desert, storms, and strength.

In the myth, Set was the son of Geb, the god of the earth, and Nut, the goddess of the sky. He had siblings like Osiris, Isis, and Horus. Set became jealous of Osiris and tricked him into a box and threw him in the river. This made Set Osiris' enemy. Set was often seen as a dark, scary god because of his violent and unpredictable behavior.

One of the most famous stories about Set occurred when he battled with his nephew Horus for the throne of Egypt. Set tried to steal the throne, but Horus defeated him and became the new king. These myths helped people understand the world around them, showed them how to behave, and gave them hope for the future.
