ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shahid

Shahid is a word that comes from the Arabic language and it means "witness" or "martyr". It is often used within the context of Islam to refer to someone who has given their life for the sake of their faith.

Imagine you and your friends playing a game where you have to protect something very important, like a treasure or a flag. If someone tries to take it away from you and you step up to defend it, even if it means you get hurt or lose the game, you are being a shahid of the game.

In Islam, there are many stories of people who stood up for what they believed in, even when it was difficult or dangerous, and who are considered shahids. They are seen as brave examples of how to live a good and righteous life, and their sacrifice is honored and remembered.
