Shapes are like cookie cutters that we use to make different things. They have different names, like circles, squares, and triangles.
A circle is a round shape, like a cookie or a pizza. It has no straight sides, just one curved one that goes all the way around.
A square is like a box. It has four sides that are all the same length, and each corner is a right angle, like the corners of a piece of paper.
A triangle is like a slice of pizza. It has three sides and three corners. Depending on how long or short the sides are, triangles can have different names, like equilateral (all sides the same length), isosceles (two sides the same length) or scalene (no sides the same length).
There are lots of other shapes too, like rectangles (like pieces of paper), ovals (like eggs) and pentagons (like stop signs). Each shape has its own unique features and uses, and they are all part of geometry, which is the study of shapes and how they fit together.
