Shell (corporation)

A shell corporation is a company that has the outward appearance of being a legitimate business but, in reality, has no significant assets or operations. It has no physical office or employees. Instead, it exists only on paper, usually with an address in a foreign country. Shell corporations are often used to hide money from governments, as it is difficult for authorities to trace the money or its owners through the layers of anonymous shell companies.
