Shinbutsu-shūgō

Shinbutsu-shūgō is a really big word that means "the combination of gods and Buddhas." It's about how people in Japan used to mix different religions together.

In Japan, there are different religions such as Buddhism and Shintoism. Some people thought it was okay to mix and match these religions to create their own ways of worshiping. For example, they might worship both a Buddha statue and a Shinto god at the same time.

This idea was popular a long, long time ago when people didn't have just one religion like they do today. They thought it was important to respect all religions and the different gods and goddesses that people believed in. But now most Japanese people follow just one religion, so shinbutsu-shūgō is not so common anymore.
