Shingled magnetic recording

Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) is a new way to store information on hard drives. It's like a sandwich made of metal disks, where each disk has tiny magnets that store information on the hard drive. The disks are layered on top of each other like shingles on a roof, so that the data from one disk overlaps with the data from the other disk. This helps save space and gets more information into a smaller area. You get more data in the same amount of space on the hard drive.
