ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Showrunner

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing pretend with your friends and you're the "boss" of the game. You make sure everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing, you come up with ideas for the story, and you make sure the game is fun for everyone. Well, a showrunner is kind of like the "boss" of a TV show.

They are the person in charge of making all the big decisions about the show, like what the story is going to be about, what the characters are going to say and do, and who is going to be in charge of making the show.

They are like the captain of a ship, making sure that everything on board is running smoothly and going in the right direction. They work with a team of writers, directors, and producers to make sure that the show is made the way they want it to be made.

And just like how you might ask your mom or dad for help when you need it, showrunners also work with other people who are responsible for different parts of the show. But in the end, they are the ones who have the final say on everything that happens in the show.
