Sigmund Freud was a famous doctor from Austria who lived in the 1800s and early 1900s. He studied how people think and act. He believed that things that happen in our childhood can affect how we act as adults. He also believed that everyone has three parts to their personality - the id (the part of the personality that wants to have fun and get what it wants right away), the ego (the part of the personality that is able to think and reason in a more realistic way), and the superego (the part of the personality that knows right and wrong and applies morality to decision making). He also thought that many of our thoughts and feelings are hidden in our mind because they can be scary or embarrassing and it is safer to keep them hidden.
