ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sikhye

Sikhye is a very yummy and sweet Korean drink that is made by mixing rice and sugar together. First, grown-ups soak the rice in water for a while until it becomes nice and soft. Then, they boil the rice with more water and sugar until it becomes thick and syrupy. Once it cools down a bit, they add a special sort-of yeast called nuruk that helps to make the drink fizzy. The mixture is then left to sit for a little while so that the yeast can work its magic on the sugar, making it bubbly and sweet. Finally, it is strained to remove any lumps and poured into a jar or a big bowl. Ta-da! Now you have your very own sikhye! It's a perfect drink for warm days, and you can have it with snacks or even meals if you want!
