ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Skip-stop

Skip-stop is a way of organizing trains to make them run more efficiently. Imagine you have a bunch of kids who all want to go to different places. Instead of having everyone ride on the same bus, you split them up into two groups. One group goes to the first stop, and the other group goes to the second stop. Then, they switch places and go to the opposite stop. This way, the bus doesn't have to make as many stops and can get everyone to their destination faster.

Skip-stop works the same way for trains. Instead of having every train stop at every station, some trains only stop at certain stations. This allows other trains to go faster and skip those stations that the first train is stopping at. Eventually, the trains switch places and the other train gets to skip some stations too.

This helps the trains save time and run more smoothly. It's like a big game of "leapfrog" but with trains!
