ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Skyhook (structure)

Imagine a really tall tower that goes up, up, up into the sky! This tower is so tall that it almost touches the clouds, and it has a big hook or claw hanging from the top. This is called a skyhook!

The skyhook is used for all sorts of things, like lifting heavy things way up high, or pulling things down from the sky. It's kind of like a really long arm, only it's way, way taller than any person could ever be!

The skyhook is usually made of really strong materials, like steel or titanium, so it can hold lots of weight without breaking. It's also designed to be really stable, so it doesn't wobble around in the wind or anything.

Some people even use skyhooks to build things that are really high up, like tall buildings or bridges. They attach the skyhook to the structure and use it to lift all the heavy parts up so they can be put into place.

So, that's what a skyhook is! A really tall tower with a big hook on top that can lift heavy things up, or bring them down from above.
