Slip forming

Slip forming is like building a tower of Legos, but with concrete. When you build a tower of Legos, you start with one block and keep adding more blocks on top until you've built a tall tower. Slip forming is similar, but instead of Legos, you use concrete.

First, workers pour a mixture of concrete and water into a long, narrow form. This form is kind of like a giant trough that's set up in a vertical position. As the concrete mixture is poured into the form, it starts to harden and become solid.

At the same time, there's a machine called a slip form that's moving up the length of the form. The slip form is like a big metal frame that surrounds the concrete as it hardens. The slip form is also moving up the length of the form, gradually adding more and more concrete as it goes.

As the slip form moves up the length of the form, it also smooths and shapes the concrete tower. It has special tools that help it create a smooth, even surface on the outside of the tower. The workers keep pouring new concrete into the form as the slip form moves up, so the tower just keeps growing and growing.

Finally, when the entire tower is complete, the concrete is left to harden and dry out completely. Now you have a tall, strong tower made of concrete, all thanks to slip forming!
