ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Slovak Canadians

Okay kiddo, let me explain Slovak Canadians to you.

You know how people can come from different countries and then move to live in another country? Well, Slovak Canadians are people who were born in Slovakia, which is a country in Europe, but now live in Canada.

Slovak Canadians are very proud of their heritage and culture from Slovakia. They might speak Slovak, which is a language that's a bit different from English. They also have foods, traditions, and celebrations that are special to their culture.

Even though Slovak Canadians live in Canada now, they still like to keep their Slovak traditions and customs alive. They might celebrate holidays like Christmas or Easter in ways that are different from other people in Canada. They might also cook traditional Slovak foods like halušky, which are little dumplings made from potatoes and flour.

Slovak Canadians are just like you and me, but they have a very unique background and culture that they like to share with others.
