Small press

Okay kiddo, imagine you want to make a book, but you don't have a big company to help you publish it (like the big book companies you see in the stores). That's where small press comes in! Small press is a term used to describe publishing companies that aren't as big as the ones you might be used to.

These smaller presses are often run by just a few people, or even just one person, who love books and want to help other people get their books out into the world. They might work out of their house, or they might have a small office or workspace that they use.

Small press books can cover all sorts of topics: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, cookbooks, graphic novels, and many more! They often give authors more creative control over their books, and they might help with things like editing, formatting, and designing the cover.

Because small press books don't have as big of a budget to work with as larger companies, they might not have as much money to spend on marketing, advertising, or distributing books. But that doesn't mean they're not worth reading! You might even find some of your favorite books from small press publishers - sometimes the best things come in small packages!
