Socialist feminism is a type of feminism that combines traditional feminist ideas with beliefs from socialism. Socialist feminism stresses the importance of both individual freedom and social equality. It believes that in order to achieve true freedom and equality, the economic and social systems that keep people oppressed have to be challenged, changed, and replaced with fair and equal systems. Socialist feminists think that the unequal power relations between the sexes can only be overcome if the economic and political systems that cause the inequality are changed and replaced. In other words, socialist feminists think that ending sexism and discrimination can only be achieved if everyone has equal access to resources, equal pay, and equal rights.
