Soil fertility

So, do you know what soil is? It's the dirt that plants grow in! But did you know that not all dirt is the same? Some dirt is better for plants than others. This is because of something called soil fertility.

Soil fertility is like how healthy the dirt is for plants. Think of it like healthy food for people – some food is really good for us, and some food is not as good.

In the same way, good soil fertility means that the plants growing in the soil will be really healthy and strong. They'll have everything they need to grow big and strong - things like nutrients and water.

But just like how we need to eat healthy food to stay strong, soil also needs to be "fed" with things like compost and fertilizer to stay fertile. When soil doesn't have enough nutrients or water, plants won't grow as well, and might be smaller or weaker than they should be. This is why farmers and gardeners work really hard to keep their soil fertile, so their plants can grow strong and healthy!
