Hey there, kiddo! Today we're going to talk about something called Somapura.
Somapura is actually a really old building in a country called Bangladesh. It was built about 1,400 years ago! That's even older than your great-grandma!
The building was a Buddhist monastery, which means it was kind of like a school or a place where people went to learn about Buddhism. The monks who lived there would study and meditate, and they would also help people in their community.
Now, the really cool thing about Somapura is that it was HUGE! It had over 170 rooms and 21 courtyards. Can you imagine how big that is?! It was also really pretty, with lots of intricate carvings and decorations.
Even though Somapura is really old, it's still standing today. But it's not used as a monastery anymore. Instead, people come from all over the world to visit and learn about its history.
So that's Somapura in a nutshell. It's an old building in Bangladesh where monks used to study and help people, and now it's a really cool place to visit and learn about the past. Pretty neat, huh?
