ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sorbs

Sorbs are a group of people who live in different parts of Europe. They have their own language and culture that is unique to them. Just like how you and your family might have your own traditions and way of speaking, sorbs have their own too.

Sometimes, sorbs are also called "Wends" or "Lusatians" because they live in the region of Lusatia, which is between Germany and Poland. The sorbs have been living in this area for a very long time, even before other people came to live there.

Sorbian language is very important to sorbs as it is a part of their identity. Some people still speak sorbian today, but others have learned other languages like German or Polish. One of the reasons why sorbian language is important to them is to keep their culture alive for generations to come.

Even though the sorbs are a small group of people, they are still an important part of the European community. They have their own traditions, music, and festivals that they celebrate every year. It's important to respect and learn about different cultures, including the sorbs, so that we can appreciate the diversity in our world.
