Speculum metal

Ok kiddo, so have you ever gone to the doctor for a check-up and the doctor needed to take a look inside your body? Well, sometimes they need a tool called a speculum to help them see better. A speculum is a metal tool that looks kind of like a duck's beak.

The metal used to make speculums needs to be very strong so that it doesn't break when the doctor uses it. It also needs to be very smooth and easy to clean so that it can be used again and again (eww, but it's true).

So people who make speculums use a special type of metal called "speculum metal." This metal is made up of a combination of different metals like copper, tin, and nickel. These metals are chosen because they're strong, durable, and don't rust easily.

Once the metal is made, it's shaped into the duck's beak shape and polished so that it's smooth and shiny. Then it's ready to be used by the doctor to help them see better and make sure you stay healthy!
