Speech recognition

Speech recognition is a type of technology that lets computers understand what people say. It works by taking speech (the words you say) and turning it into text that the computer can understand. A computer can do this because it knows how to recognize sounds in different languages and it can match sounds to the same words that you say. So when you speak, the computer takes the sounds you make and matches them to the words that it knows, so it can understand what you are saying.
