Spider shot

Spider shot is a term used in a sport called volleyball. Imagine you have a ball and you need to hit it over a net to the other team's side so they can't hit it back. There are lots of ways you can hit the ball, but spider shot is a little bit different.

Normally, when you hit the ball, you use your hand or your forearm to push or hit it up into the air. But with spider shot, instead of using your hand or forearm, you use your fingers. Specifically, you use the tips of your fingers to tap the ball lightly over the net.

Why is it called spider shot? Well, think about how spiders walk on walls and ceilings. Instead of using their feet like we do, they use their tiny little spider toes to hold onto things. Spider shot is kind of like that, where you're using your fingers like little spider toes to gently touch the ball without hitting it too hard.

Spider shot is a tricky move to master, but if you can do it well, it can be very effective. It's especially useful when the other team is expecting you to hit the ball hard and you want to catch them off guard. So, if you're playing volleyball and someone uses spider shot, you'll know they're using their fingers like little spider toes to tap the ball over the net, and it's pretty cool!
