Starve the beast

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a piggy bank that has money in it but you want to save even more money. So, you decide to stop putting any more money into the piggy bank to make sure you don't spend it. That's what some grown-ups call "starve the beast."

In terms of the government and taxes, some people believe that the government has too much money and spends it on things they don't agree with. So they want to stop giving the government more money by cutting taxes. By doing this, they hope that the government will have less money to spend, just like you have less money in your piggy bank when you stop putting more money into it.

However, not everyone agrees with this approach because if the government has less money, it may not be able to provide important services like schools, hospitals or roads. So, it's a bit complicated!
