States' Rights

States' rights is a way for each of the states in the United States to have their own decisions about how things are done in their state. This means that each state can make laws and have other rules that are different from the other states. This also means that the federal government, which is the government of the United States as a whole, cannot force one state to do something that all the other states don't have to do. Everyone in the United States has to follow the laws of the federal government, but each state can choose to have additional laws that make their state different.
