ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Step (footing)

Alright kiddo, have you ever tried jumping from one foot to the other or climbing stairs? When we do that, we put one foot first and then the other, right? That first foot we put down is called a step, or footing. It helps us balance and move forward. It's like building a path with blocks - we put one block down and then step on it with one foot so we can bring the other foot forward to the next block. Steps are important for walking, running, and climbing, and they keep us from falling over. So, basically, a step (footing) is the first foot we put down when walking or climbing.
