Stick licensing is a type of agreement between two companies, where one company (sometimes called the Licensor) allows another company (sometimes called the Licensee) to use something that it owns or makes. The Licensor might own rights to a brand name, a patent, or a copyright - like a movie, song, video game, or story. The Licensee has permission to use the thing that the Licensor owns, but only in certain ways and for certain purposes. For example, the Licensee might be able to make a toy that looks like a character from a movie, or use a certain brand name on a product, or make a video game based on a book. Stick licensing gives the Licensor money, and it gives the Licensee permission to use something that is important to them.
