Subcontractor

A subcontractor is like a helper for big construction or building projects. When someone wants to make a big building or fix a big road, they might need lots of people to help. Sometimes the people who work for the company are not enough to do everything themselves. So they ask other people, called subcontractors, to help them.

It's like when your mommy or daddy wants to make a cake, but they don't know how to decorate it. So they ask Aunt Sarah to come over and help decorate the cake. Just like Aunt Sarah is not part of your family, the subcontractor is not part of the main company that is building or fixing things.

The subcontractor does a special job that they are really good at, like making the cake look pretty or putting in the electrical wires for the building. When the main company asks the subcontractor to help, they usually pay them to do the job. So the subcontractor is like a special helper who gets paid to do a specific job.
