Submerged continents

Okay, so you know how we live on a big piece of land called a continent? Well, sometimes, a long time ago, there were continents that got so heavy that they sank down under water. Just like how a heavy toy would sink in a bathtub.

But even though these continents are underwater now, we can still see some clues that they were once above water. For example, scientists can look at the rocks on the ocean floor and see that they match the rocks on the continents that we know about. It's like seeing puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly.

And sometimes, when people go scuba diving in the ocean, they can see things that look like buildings or walls underwater. These might be from the old sunken continents, which had cities and civilizations just like ours.

It's really neat to think about how the earth used to look so different, with big land masses that are now underwater. It's like a secret, hidden world that we're still learning about!
