Sun transit time

When you look up in the sky during the day, you can see a big bright ball which we call the sun. But did you know that the sun moves across the sky throughout the day? Sun transit time is the time it takes for the sun to move from its highest point in the sky at noon to the point where it sets in the evening.

Let's pretend you are playing a game of tag and you are it. Now imagine that the sun is playing the same game, but instead of running around, it is moving across the sky. The sun starts the game at its highest point in the sky, which we call "noon." It then travels across the sky, getting lower and lower until it sets in the evening.

Just like in a game of tag, we need to know how long it takes for the sun to complete its journey. This is where sun transit time comes in - it is the time it takes for the sun to complete its journey from noon to sunset.

Scientists and astronomers use sun transit time to measure the length of the day. They also use it to help them study the movements and positions of the sun, which can tell us more about our planet and even the entire universe!

So next time you look up at the big bright ball in the sky, remember that it is not just hanging out - it is playing a game of tag with all of us on Earth!
