Suzhou dialect

Okay kiddo, today we are going to talk about Suzhou dialect. So, you know how people speak different languages in different parts of the world, right? Well, in China, people speak a language called Mandarin, but different cities and regions also have their own way of speaking. Suzhou is a city in China where people have their own way of speaking Mandarin, and that's called Suzhou dialect.

Now, remember when we talk, we make different sounds with our mouth, like saying "mom" or "dad", right? Well, people who speak Suzhou dialect make some of those sounds in a different way than Standard Mandarin. For example, instead of saying "shang" to mean "up" in Mandarin, people in Suzhou say "tsong".

Another thing that's different about Suzhou dialect is that it has lots of its own unique words, which means people in Suzhou might use different words for things than people in other parts of China. So instead of saying "qing" for "please" like they do in Mandarin, people in Suzhou would say "neeng".

Sometimes, people even make fun of Suzhou dialect by saying that people who speak it sound like they're singing a song when they talk! But it's actually a really cool and important part of Suzhou's culture and history. And that's Suzhou dialect in a nutshell!
