Symmetric relation

Okay kiddo, a symmetric relation is when two things are connected to each other in a way that if one thing is connected to the other, then the other thing is also connected to the first thing.

For example, let's imagine you have a friend named Emily. If Emily says she is your friend, then you can say that you are also her friend. That is a symmetric relation.

Or, let's say you have two toys, a teddy bear and a toy car. If you say the teddy bear is your favorite toy, the teddy bear can't say the same thing about you. That's not a symmetric relation. But, if you say that you and the toy car are friends, and the toy car says it's also your friend, then that's a symmetric relation.

So, basically, a symmetric relation means that if something is true for one thing, then it's also true for the other thing that's related to it.
