Tōrō nagashi

Tōrō nagashi is a Japanese tradition where people put small paper lanterns on boats or in rivers to remember and honor their loved ones who have passed away.

Imagine you have a special friend or family member who isn't with you anymore. You want to make sure they feel remembered and loved, so you decide to make a small lantern with special messages on it.

Then, you go to a river or lake and place your special lantern on a boat or float it down the river. You watch as it glows and floats away, carrying your love and memories with it.

Many people do this together in large groups, making it a beautiful and special event that honors and remembers all the people who have passed away.
