ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Teaching assistant

A teaching assistant is a helper that helps a teacher do their job. They help the teacher to make sure that the students learn what they need to learn in school. Just like how a big kid helps a little kid to tie their shoes, a teaching assistant helps a teacher to do their job.

They can help in many ways, like grading papers, explaining things to students, creating lesson plans, and setting up activities. They also help students who need extra help, like students who are not doing as well as the rest of the class or who have a hard time understanding something.

Teaching assistants are very important because they can give the teacher more time to focus on teaching and help students who need extra attention. They're like the teacher's sidekick, and together they make sure that all the students are learning and doing their best.
