ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Teaware

Teaware is just a fancy term for all the different things you use when making and drinking tea. Think about all the things you need to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - bread, peanut butter and jelly - but instead of those things, you need a few different things to make tea.

First, you need a cup to drink from. Just like you might use a special cup for hot chocolate, tea cups are often smaller than regular cups and made from delicate materials like porcelain or bone china. Tea cups might also have pretty designs on them.

Next, you need a way to brew the tea. This is where teapots come in. Think of a teapot like a big pitcher for tea. You put tea leaves and hot water into the teapot, let it steep, and then pour it into a cup. Teapots might have handles, spouts, and lids, and they can be made from lots of different materials like ceramic, metal, or glass.

Sometimes, people use something called a tea infuser. This is a little mesh or metal ball that holds the tea leaves while it's steeping in the water. It kind of looks like a little tea bag that you can reuse over and over again.

Finally, some people use a special tool called a tea strainer. This is a tiny silver or metal tool that looks like a spoon with a bunch of little tiny holes. When you pour the tea from the teapot into the cup, you use the strainer to catch any little bits of leaves that might have gotten into the tea.

So, there you have it - teaware is just a fancy word for all the different cups, pots, infusers, and strainers that people use when making and serving tea.
