ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tejanos

Tejanos are people who live in the state of Texas but their ancestors are originally from Mexico. Imagine if your grandparents or great-grandparents were born in Mexico but then moved to Texas and had your parents who then had you. You would be considered a Tejano. Even if you or your parents were born in Texas, if your ancestors were from Mexico, you are still considered a Tejano. Tejanos have a unique culture that combines both Mexican and Texan traditions. They speak a mix of Spanish and English and enjoy things like Tex-Mex food and traditional Mexican music. Tejanos have played an important role in the history of Texas, contributing to its culture and society in many ways.
