ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Terraced wall

Okay kiddo, do you know what stairs are? They're steps that help you climb up or down, right?

Now imagine those stairs are all connected and make a big wall. That's called a terraced wall!

The way it works is that there are different levels or steps, just like with stairs. But instead of helping you go up or down a hill, these steps help hold the soil in place.

So if you have a really steep hill, you can build a terraced wall to keep the soil from sliding down. It's kind of like building a bunch of little garden beds on the hillside.

Each step is kind of like a little shelf where you can plant flowers or vegetables or whatever you want. And because the wall is holding the soil in place, the plants are less likely to get washed away when it rains.

Pretty cool, huh? Terraced walls are a great way to make use of steep land and create some beautiful gardens!
