ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thermal neutron

Neutrons are teeny, tiny things that can't be seen with your eyes. Some scientists like to study them. When a neutron gets really, really hot, it's called a thermal neutron. This means it's moving around really fast and hitting things like other atoms. Scientists like thermal neutrons because they can be used to study what things are made of and how they work. They can be used in power plants to make electricity and in other cool science experiments. So, a thermal neutron is like a tiny, invisible ninja that scientists use to learn about stuff.
