Thermal runaway

Thermal runaway is what happens when two things interact causing the temperature to get hotter and hotter. For example, if you put a hot pot on a hot stove, the pot will get hotter and hotter because heat from the stove will transfer to the pot and make it even hotter. This keeps happening over and over so the temperature of the pot just keeps getting higher and higher. It's like a chain reaction that can get out of control and cause dangerous situations.
