A thermocouple is a special device that is used to measure temperatures. It is made out of two metal wires that are joined together at one end. When one end of the thermocouple is in a hot environment and the other end is in a cooler environment, the two wires will create an electrical current which can be measured and used to tell how hot or cold the area is. Thermocouples are very useful because they can measure temperatures accurately even in extremely hot or cold places.
