Third-party reproduction

Third-party reproduction is when a person or couple asks someone else to help them have a baby. This means that a woman can't have a baby the way most people do, by growing a baby in her tummy. Instead, the person or couple may find a woman who is willing to grow a baby for them and then give the baby to them after it is born. This woman is called a surrogate.

Sometimes the person or couple may need help from a man to make a baby. This man can also be someone who is not the person or couple trying to have a baby. He can donate some of his sperm to help make a baby through a process called sperm donation.

Sometimes, the person or couple may need help from a woman to donate her eggs to make a baby. This woman can also be someone who is not the person or couple trying to have a baby. She can donate some of her eggs to help make a baby through a process called egg donation.

These are all examples of third-party reproduction. It's like the person or couple is getting help from other people to have a baby which can be a very special and helpful thing for some people.
