ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thru-hiking

Thru-hiking is when you walk for a really, really long time. Imagine going on a really, really long walk that lasts for weeks or even months. Thru-hiking usually means hiking a big trail in one go, without stopping for more than a few days at a time to rest or resupply (get more food and gear). It's like if you wanted to walk all the way from your house to your grandma's house, but instead of doing it in one day, you did it over the course of several weeks or months, camping outside and carrying everything you need on your back. Thru-hikers need to be very strong and good at planning and adapting to changes along the way. It's like an adventure that takes a lot of time and effort, but can be very rewarding and satisfying to accomplish.
