Your tongue is like a very flexible and stretchy muscle that helps you talk, eat, and even taste different foods! But did you know that your tongue can also change its shape to do different things?
For example, when you want to make the "sss" sound, your tongue has to be flat and pushed up against your teeth. But when you want to make the "th" sound, your tongue has to be between your teeth and sticking out a little bit.
Your tongue can also move around in your mouth to help you taste different parts of your food. The tip of your tongue is better for tasting sweet things, while the back of your tongue can taste sour or bitter things.
So even though your tongue doesn't look very complicated, it has a lot of different jobs to do depending on its shape and position!
