ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Traffic lane

Okay kiddo! So you know when we're driving on the road, there are often lines painted on the pavement that separate different lanes of traffic? Each of those lanes is like a special path that cars can drive on, and they help keep everyone safe on the road.

So when we're driving in a lane, we have to make sure we stay inside it and not cross over into another lane unless we really need to, like if there's an obstacle or we want to turn in a certain direction. Each lane has its own purpose, too - sometimes the right lane is for slower traffic and the left lane is for passing, or sometimes there are special lanes just for buses or carpooling.

Basically, a traffic lane is just a designated area of the road where cars are supposed to drive and not get in the way of each other. We have to be careful when we're changing lanes or driving on the road to make sure we're in the right lane for where we want to go, and to watch out for other cars doing the same thing. It can seem confusing at first, but it's important to follow the lane markings and driving rules to keep everyone safe and happy on the road!
