The Treaty of Versailles was a meeting or treaty between countries that happened after World War 1 to try and come to an agreement about how to make peace. The treaty was signed by Germany—the country that had started the war—and some of the countries that had fought against it, such as Britain and France. In the treaty, Germany was asked to give up some land, pay money to the other countries, put limits on its military, and accept blame for causing the war. This treaty was a way for the countries to try and make sure another world war didn't happen.
